Treatment of Back Pain

Back Pain

The spine forms the central axis in the human body. It is capable of flexion, extension, lateral movement, and rotation. Another important feature of the spine is its link with the physiology of the body…the spine makes up the central nervous system, but also it is the central support for the trunk, which contains most of our important organs.

When your spine experiences a problem, an imbalance occurs in our entire system and causes aches & pains throughout the body.

A few common ailments in relation to our spines, that may cause pain are:

  • Herniated / Slipped Disc - A compressed disc between vertebra
  • Degenerated Disc - Loss of water/gel in disc
  • Arthritic problems in joint of spine

Forward bends are prescribed to stretch & release spine, but sometimes this type of bending may not be useful—if you continue to forcefully forward bend, eventually your disc will start bulging out. For acute back pain keep moving, encourage long exhalation and stretch the sciatic nerve by extension exercises.
