Yoga Therapist, Caroline McCarter,
(E-RYT 500) uses these techniques to create a personal yoga practice
just for you. She does this by observing and identifying your special
needs or conditions and creates a customized yoga program to meet those
needs as well as focus on your personal desires (flexibility, strength,
meditation, and more). The program is set to your particular schedule
and time frame to practice at home for self-care.

Treatment of Asthma

With asthma, our air sacs have air trapped in them, and we can't exhale. In yoga practice we must press an asthmatics exhale to encourage the use of muscular effort.
Asthmatics should follow nutrition guidelines to reduce foods that cause mucus.
Asthmatics should avoid the following mucus-causing foods:
- Dairy products
- Salty, fatty, fried food
- Sour items from natural sources like lime, orange
- Raw food
- Cold drinks
Recommended Asana Guidelines for asthmatics:
- Exercise within your limits – too much can trigger an attack, too little is not beneficial
- Rest between postures
- Diaphragmatic breathing
- Movements to open the chest
Recommended Postures for asthmatics:
- Forward bends
- Downward Facing Dog
- Shoulderstand
